For artistic types who want a less academically grueling major, photography seems like it could be an easy elective. And you’re partially right – you won’t be bogged down by nightmarish calculus or 500-page novels to dissect. The coursework focuses on honing your creative eye and technical skills behind the camera.
While it’s not brain surgery, you’ll still need to develop a strong portfolio and business acumen to thrive in this competitive field.
But the most entrepreneurial photographers who master their craft can earn very comfortable incomes photographing events, doing commercial work, or selling their art. It’s a niche path, but with laser focus and hustle, this “easy” degree can actually lead to some impressive earnings.
