Gender studies sounds fascinating for those passionate about social issues and equality. However, grads often struggle to find many clear career paths that directly utilize this niche expertise. While the knowledge gained is important, employers don’t always know how to apply these specialized skills.

Sure, some gender studies majors may land roles in academia, nonprofits, or research if they continue to higher degrees. But options are extremely limited for just a bachelor’s.

Many end up needing to pivot entirely or take unrelated jobs. Unless you plan on entering activism or academia long-term, this degree alone doesn’t tend to translate into many mainstream, lucrative professions. It’s great for personal enrichment, but risky for employment prospects.
