4. Art history
Art history may seem like a fascinating field of study for art lovers and museum-goers. But here’s the reality – there are very few actual jobs directly related to this niche degree. Most art historians struggle to find relevant full-time work, especially roles that pay a decent salary.
Sure, some grads land gigs at museums, galleries or auction houses. But those jobs are competitive and limited. Many art history majors end up having to pivot to more general roles or unrelated fields entirely.
Unless you’re going for a PhD to potentially teach art history, this major alone doesn’t really equip you for many lucrative career paths. It’s more of a passion project than a ticket to stable employment.
