9. Nannying
A degree in nannying seems like it would set you up for a career caring for children in affluent homes. And while it may help you land some childcare gigs, the harsh reality is that most nannying jobs don’t pay all that well or provide long-term stability.
It’s often a job with little room for advancement or growth. Salaries are usually on par with daycare workers, unless you get lucky with a wealthy family. And the work comes with high turnover – once kids grow up, you’re often left searching for a new position.
Unless you absolutely adore childcare and don’t mind the lack of upward mobility, a nannying degree may not provide the lucrative career path you’d want from a four-year program.
